Grandma's quilt

Tinkerbell pjs for everyone!

Late night sewing

I finished tinkerbell pyjamas for Isla.  She picked out the buttons.

Big Foot

Daddy's been playing with his camera phone again...this is Fergus's foot...REALLY close up.

Mr Toddler

He got a new tractor fleece from Grannie for Christmas (there's a button you press and it makes tractor noises). He's looking very grown up in this shot. He's almost ready for his first haircut.

Lurking in the Shadows

Someone's getting old and her white eye patches now give her away. Kiwi has found a new spot (away from the heater, but still on the heated floor)....she's ready for any dropped scrap....and sits there in silence till the food falls her way.

Daddy's skilz

Isla and Daddy made this chocolate cake today. Hershey's own. Daddy was very proud of the way out came out and his cutting ability.

Mucky Pup

Tonight was beans, sausages and chocolate cake for dinner. Sir Fergus enjoyed it.

My favourite one yet

I worked on this quilt back in July, but only just finished it tonight. I had long-arm quilted it, but had to fix some loose threads, put the border on and bind it. I think it's my favourite so far.....helps me focus on my dream of going to a warm beach where the sun actually shines and the temperature gets above 60 degrees in the summer :) I love that the picture Alisdair took shows the needlework. My continuity at quilting is getting better....slowly.

Skills

She'd not bad with a hammer either.

Cool gifts

Isla got a cool wooden ring from Santa, like the ones they use at school. We asked her to show us how it works and she did! A knife on it and then she hammered the knife and her leaf bit came off. Pretty neat.

Wrestling

Finally! An appropriate place for their horseplay.

Stars

Thank you Auntie Emily for telling Isla that mom has some mad trampoline skilz.....she insisted we go out from first light for a show of them....

What the fox hat?

Sorry....the title is a British commercial....and Alisdair has been laughing all day at Ailsa's new hat because of it.

Grannie got a new step stool. It was huge hit with the kids.

Christmas Day

Fergus was up first at 6:30, but the others followed by 7:30....and we HAD to run downstairs to see if "Santa had come."

We tried to stick to the 3 gifts idea:  "Something to wear, something to read, something to do." Fergus got this snazzy ride on toy (thanks Ebay!)

A GIANT scratch & sniff sticker book (note cookie left for Santa on coffee table)
A ride on horse from Anne
Fergus loves his football from Auntie Erin
He wasn't so keen on his sock monkey hat
Ailsa LOVED her monkey hat & mittens set from Grandma...and thought she was HILARIOUS for wearing it over her eyes.
We got them bundled up for the "dog walk"
 But then.......
 oooohhhh (ah, 10am in Scotland....)
 THE TRAMPOLINE!
The dogs got their Christmas chew bones (and a walk to the river while daddy watched the girls jump).

New models are a bit more safe than the ones we grew up with....tie down kits, safety bars, safety nets, under nets to keep the area safe, a ladder...
We went to Grannie's for Christmas dinner.

Someone insisted we go stick hunting so she could get something to "whittle" (she got a vegetable peeler AKA child's whittle toy and couldn't wait to use it)
Ah, no matter how many gifts you buy this girl, nothing beats the thrill of throwing rocks in water.
Due to the flooding, Grannie's done some work to the burns to clear them out, including clearning off this cement slab which makes the BEST splashing surface.
She did warn the girls multiple times that they area above it was now quite deep.....and remarkably, they didn't jump in it.

More Trees

Ailsa's (what we didn't realise, is in her 2 year old wisdom, she was creating a "storage" for herself. Today at dinner, when she was hungry, she picked and ate all the "extra" candy she'd left on her plate.

The cones were quality. Fergus and Michael enjoyed them plain.

Christmas Eve crafts

Normally on Christmas Eve, (courtesy of Auntie Erin), we make "gingerbread" (graham cracker) houses. We decided to "toddlerise" our craft and changed to making ice cream cone trees this year. The kids had a great time (although Auntie Claire, who works in a cake decorating shop has a distinctive unfair advantage ;)

Then people decided to start festive writing.

Or, in Alisdair's case, just identification tags (he loves to make fun of my face painting skills and the time I wrote "duck" on Ailsa when I tried to paint her face to look like a duck, but it was so bad, it needed some help)....

Aunti Claire....inspiring us all with her creativity. (Isla, ever so quietly, was observing everyone's and copying the best of design features. It was pretty funny).

Little elves

Last night some little elves came and set up a trampoline for the girls, very late at night. Despite the rain, the darkness and the cold, they used their handy head torches and managed to read the instructions(!) and get it all ship-shape for morning! We were on our way out for a dog walk, when Isla walked into the back garden and exclaimed "Oh! Santa brought my trampoline!" as if it was the most normal thing ever. It was slightly funny.

Christmas Morning Jumping

Suits, brand new irridescent croc wellies, and a hat from Grandma rounded out this morning's jumping attire. (It was about 9:30am...looks much darker with the light though).

"If you jump on the x you go higher."

Homemade snowglobes

Food colouring, stickers, some glitter and empty jars....Isla is slightly obsessed with snowglobes right now, so this was a great craft!

I've heard making crafts in your nappy helps the creative process :)

Merry-Go-Round

Daddy and Ailsa on the Merry-Go-Round.

A fun quilt

When we started a quilt for Laurie on Thursday night, I felt bad we didn't have anything for his sister....SO, I happily dug through my supplies, found this cute jelly roll (22 2/12" strips all precut) and voila! sewed it together. I really like it. I added a strip of fleece at the bottom to finish it off (unfortunately it wasn't cut very square the the bottom corner is about 1 1/2" big and looks a bit odd, but it's a cute quilt anyway). It had a brown minky background and is really soft and warm. It's definitely one of my favourite (and with the added bonus of finishing both AND two hot pads for their mom  and three Santa hats for the Singing kettle show, all by 11am on Saturday.)
My little sewing machine has been well used this week (and I have the under-eye bags to prove it :)
